December 24, 2003, Volume 3 Number 52

"Merry Christmas!" It's great to be able to say this and mean it - especially when you compare this Christmas to the one we endured last year. Yet there are those reading this newsletter who were bit on Guam when Typhoon Pongsona blasted our cherished holiday season to bits. Those of us who were are grateful that the lights are on, and that we have Christmas lights decorating our homes and businesses. This reminds me to make time to drive around some of the island villages to view the elaborate Christmas light displays decorating homes (which brings to mind another interesting irony about this time last year with our gasoline shortage which limited driving - but since there were no Christmas lights, or any lights for that matter, it wasn't necessary to drive). In last year's Christmas newsletter we listed restaurants that were open, and spent time on the radio giving updates, since there really weren't that many of you who had power to run computers to read the newsletter. This Christmas is certainly a relief and, if the good Lord is willing, quietly uneventful (knock on wood).

There are many thoughts I'd love to share about Christmas, but the one most important is to express my appreciation for the gift of your readership and support, especially those of you who have been readers for the past four years. I feel truly blessed by this loyalty. May your Christmas bring you blessings and good cheer, and may you eat exceptionally well!
