Granny's Frito Salad


2 bunches green onions, chopped fine
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 small head iceberg lettuce, shredded fine
2 cans beans in chili gravy, drained
1 bottle good Italian dressing
1 pkg. corn chips (about 12 oz. or so)

Layer the green onions, tomatoes and lettuce in order given, in a nice glass bowl. Spread the beans on top of the lettuce. Pour the dressing over the entire salad. Cover with plastic wrap and set aside for 2-3 hr.

Just before serving, crush the chips in the bag (let the kids do this, or put the bag in your driveway and run the car over it a couple times...) Pour the chips on top of the salad and serve. Do NOT stir the salad.

This makes a great side dish or even a nice main dish for warm weather.

Yield: 8 to 10 Servings
