Tanzanian Coconut Rice


3 cups milk
2 cups unsweetened canned coconut milk
2 cups rice
1/2 tsp ground turmeric
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp ground cardamom
Salt to taste
2 Tbs butter

Bring the milk and coconut milk to a boil in a pot over moderate heat. Stir in the rice, spices, and salt. Cover and simmer over very low heat for 20 minutes. Stir in the butter.

Yield: 6 to 8 Servings
