Tofu Burgers on a Sesame Seed Bun

For patties:
2 cups water
1/2 cup soy sauce (Kikkoman)
1/3 cup canola or olive oil
1 lb tofu crumbled
1 tsp nutritional yeast flakes
2 tsps garlic powder
2 Tbs fresh sweet basil or 1/2 tsp dry basil
1/2 cup chopped onion or 2 tsps onion powder
1 tsp veggie seasoning
1 tsp ground coriander
4 cups of rolled oats or semolina
salt and pepper to taste


For topping burger:
lettuce
onion
pickled cucumber
tomato


Mix all ingredients for patties together. Knead for a few minutes. Shape into six patties. Sear patties lightly in hot nonstick pan for 2 to 3 minutes per side. Oil a cookie sheet and arrange burgers on it. Preheat oven to 325F, place the patties in the hot oven and bake for 15 minutes. Serve on sesame seed bun. Top with your choice of lettuce, tomato, alfalfa sprouts, onion, pickles, ketchup and/or mustard.
