  Friendship Soup

1/2 cup dried split peas
1/3 cup beef soup base (vegetable or chicken can also be used)
1/4 cup pearl barley
1/2 cup dried lentil beans
1/4 cup dried minced onion
1/2 cup of long grain rice
2 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 cup macaroni
1 pound cooked hamburger (or cooked chicken)
1 28 ounce can diced tomatoes,undrained
3 quarts of water

Combine all ingredients EXCEPT macaroni and simmer until the beans are soft. During the last 10 or so minutes of cooking add the macaroni and cook until macaroni is done. Serve with fresh rolls and garlic bread.

Note: As a gift: Layer the leftover dried ingredients using the same measurements as recipe, in a nice decorative jar. Make a copy of the recipe and pass it along to a friend.

Yield: 6 to 8 Large Servings
