China Wok
Restaurant Review by Ken Stewart, The Guam Food Guy
July 2001

Although I prefer my Chinese cuisine a la carte fresh, this is one "fast food" Chinese eatery I can recommend as being one of Guam's best. Located in the GPO Food Court, they offer an interesting selection of vegetarian dishes (Fried Rice, Stir-fried Noodles with Vegetables, Kang Kong with Garlic, Egg Plant Sautéed in Sauce, and Ma Po Tofu). Two soups--Egg Drop Corn Soup and Hot and Sour Soup are both flavorful and satisfying. Of course they have traditional standards such as Shrimp Chop Suey, Mushroom Chicken, Beef Broccoli, Orange Chicken, Soy Sauce Roast Chicken, Sweet & Sour Pork & Shrimp, Bitter melon Beef, and Fried Chicken (which they suggest be dipped with their home-made tartar sauce!). Owned by veteran restaurant operator James Wong, China Wok offers a truly marvelous version of a local favorite, Chicken Kelaguen, as well as a tart, refreshing cabbage and red bell pepper vinegar salad. Plate servings are 2 items for $3.95; 3 for $4.95, and 4 for $5.95! Good luck choosing!
